About the Artist
While my given name is Angelica Russell, most people that know call me Jelly!
As an Alumni of the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design’s 2D animation program, I have been working in the animation industry as a storyboard artist on tv and feature productions since 2014. I’ve been fortunate to work with many studios, including Nickelodeon, Netflix, Disney TV, Titmouse, and more. Across all of my jobs, by ability to create and portray thoughtful character acting and emotion have been a constant boon and source of pride in my work.
I believe that there are opportunities for fun and whimsy all around us. I love fun bright colors, rich textures, and leaning into my love of animals and nature, while also not denying that I love to dive deep into human emotions and the rich stories that come from the experiences of living our lives. It’s hard to be a person, and I think its a lovely thing that we continue on to find joy despite the hardships we may be dealt.
For the longest time I tried to keep my varied interests separated, believing that I had to be a singular focused brand rather than a person. How could I enjoy drawing bright cute animals while also being drawn to the difficult parts of the human experience, trauma, heartache, and healing. It seems like oil and water. How could they ever mix?
These days, however, I am rejecting that that belief. I hope that showing everything that I am passionate about will lead towards work and opportunities that fulfill and excite me to be and do my best. Although current times are tough and uncertain, my passion for storytelling and creating remain a constant.
I hope you enjoy your visit. If you think I’m a fit for your project, feel free to email me at JellyDraws@gmail.com
